Western Utah is remote. Miles of desert broken by numerous mountain ranges. It is A place in very many ways left untouched by man for the most part. Many mineral discoveries came later here due to the remote and difficult access to many parts of this dry country. Known world wide for it's Topaz rhyolite the gems are considered among the best in the world. And of course Red Beryl, one of the worlds rarest gems and only found in A few places. There are many more. Bixbite, Amethyst, Garnet, and Hematite just to name A few found in the Rhyolite. Western Utah has granite pegmatites also, and is known for hydrothermal ore bodies in some of its ranges. Pegmatites in the Mineral Mountains have produced Smokey Quartz with Microcline. Beautiful Amethyst and reports of Aquamarine with Garnet attached. Utah's western mountains have produced amazing native Gold crystals and superb Adamite. Many areas await to be discovered in this remote area of the lower 48. And who knows what discoveries the future may hold?
The yellow topaz take for our trip. hundreds of rare color stable topaz. A few were gem grade and some have elaborate terminations.
